How to Paint a Blue Moon Landscape with Acrylic | Time Lapse Painting
Watch how to create a little blue sky moonrise painting from start to finish! I'm showing you my art creation process using acrylic paint on canvas. This is a time-lapse painting of one of my small original landscapes from my 'Little Moonrise Collection'.
'Little Blue Moonrise' is a small landscape with its bold deep blue star-evening sky and contrasting with a large full moon and trees over a country landscape. A charming calm meditative view.
I grew up in the country, and we'd get awesome huge harvest moons hanging low over the fields and shining through the trees. I always love that view, sort of magical and mysterious, throw in the sound of distant coyotes and the feeling was very transcendent, spooky, like a dream. I think your life can always be made richer by taking time to just go outside under the cover of night to take a look at the moon, she never fails to impress!
This artwork was created using acrylic paint on an small 4"x6" gallery stretched canvas. Painting tip... when you're creating a painting that has a strong directional light source like a full moon, make sure the direction of the shadows makes sense.
Shadows always add some extra contrast and depth to make the painting more interesting. I usually start paintings with an orange base to make the colors I put on top brighter, plus and any gaps between strokes will show orange instead of white.
As you'll see in the video this painting changed details a few times during the painting process. I changed the colors of the cottages and even added the top cottage in front of the trees. I often change parts of the design mid-process, I like to be open to what's happening with the painting and adjust as I go.

Enjoy the journey as I create this sweet little painting, and I hope you learn something new about making art and how to paint a landscape!!!
