How to Paint a Moon Road Landscape with Acrylic | Time Lapse Painting
Watch how to create a little evening road moonrise painting from start to finish! I'm showing you my art creation process using acrylic paint on canvas. This is a time-lapse painting of one of my small original landscapes from my 'Little Moonrise Collection'..
'Little Purple Road Moonrise'... This small landscape has lots of color with its bold deep purple star-evening sky and contrasting full moon and trees over a roadway of cottages.
I grew up in the country, and we'd get awesome huge harvest moons hanging low over the fields and shining through the trees. I always love that view, sort of magical and mysterious, throw in the sound of distant coyotes and the feeling was very transcendent, spooky, like a dream. I think your life can always be made richer by taking time to just go outside under the cover of night to take a look at the moon, she never fails to impress!
This artwork was created using acrylic paint on an small 4"x6" gallery stretched canvas. Painting tip... when you're creating a painting that has a strong directional light source, watch that the direction of the shadows makes sense.
Shadows always add some extra contrast and depth to make the painting more interesting. I usually start paintings with an orange base to make the colors I put on top brighter, plus and any gaps between strokes will show orange instead of white.
As you'll see in the video this painting changed details a few times during the painting process. I changed the colors of the cottages and even added the top cottage in front of the trees. I often change parts of the design mid-process, I like to be open to what's happening with the painting and adjust as I go.

Enjoy the journey as I create this sweet little painting, and I hope you learn something new about making art and how to paint a landscape!!!
