What does a relaxing day off look like for you? For me, it involves a huge cup of coffee and some art books. I have a fairly extensive library of art books, so every once in a while I like to revisit some of my old favs. These include Van Gogh, Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, Andrew Wyeth, Gauguin, Dali, DaVinci... and many more.
Through the years I've had many artist 'crushes', then go about collecting all the books I can find about them. I just love reading the stories of their lives and how certain paintings came into being Each artist has taught me something new about ways of seeing and creating art. I think all the paintings I've created have been informed by the various jewels of wisdom gleaned from my art books.
As I begin to think about creating a new art collection I once again consult these old friends to see what they have to tell me.
