Hay Fields Painting Video

Painting a rural hay field farm landscape from start to finish! A folk art inspired acrylic paint on canvas artwork.

This time-lapse video shows how I painted a country hay fields landscape. The painting is a 10"x12" that sold a few years ago, but I remember that I enjoyed creating this colorful piece, it has a cheerful folk art style. The imagery in this painting is from my imagination, so no source material was references.

You'll notice that part way through, the painting seems to turn upside-down and then right-side up... often when I'm painting I'll turn the canvas around so I can see the painting in a new way. Then I turn it right side up to finish off. It seems odd I know, but the process has always works for me lol.

I start with an orange base as it makes the colors I put on top brighter, plus and any gaps between strokes will show orange instead of white. This is how I usually start all my acrylic paintings.

If you have any questions about my process or materials be sure to contact me

Enjoy the journey as I create this painting, and I hope you learn something new about making art and how to paint a landscape!!!
