I call this art print 'Flower Clouds'. As your eye moves up or down the picture plain the fluffy white flowers become fluffy white clouds and then back. .
When I originally created the painting that became this print, I didn't start out thinking of making 'flower clouds', it evolved into that as I was painting. During the art making process I noticed the similarities between the clouds and the flowers and then leaned into it and accentuate the relationship. I uncovered what gives this art piece it's hook, and what makes it special or different from my other art pieces. The contrast between light and dark areas, the white patches make the color stronger and visa versa. .
This piece makes me think of fresh delicate spring gardens, new life, and Easter. My winter eyes are still accustomed to seeing bright white in the landscape, but then in this piece the white breaks up and transitions into spring flowers. .
Living in Canada, I'm always looking forward to the visual differences that the next season brings and how it will delight my artist eyes. I'm ready for spring to surprise me with new colors and shapes. .
