How to Create this Seaside Beach with Acrylic Paint on Paper!
Watch and learn how to paint this simple seaside view with acrylics on paper! In this video I'm showing the time-lapse painting process, along with adding details to the ocean wave and color mixing.
This acrylic painting tutorial is great for beginners and anyone wanting to learn how to paint a seascape!! My palette for this painting is...(Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Orange, Red Oxide, Light Green Permanent, Brilliant Yellow Green, Dioxazine Purple, Phthalocyanine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, White and Black)
This artwork was created using acrylic paint on thick watercolor paper that I've taped down so it doesn't warp as I paint. The image is around 4"x6". I start with an orange base as it makes the colors I put on top brighter, plus and any gaps between strokes will show orange instead of white. This is how I usually start all my acrylic paintings. You'll notice I keep over areas with different versions of colors.
I haven't painted this scene before so as with any painting, I'm just finding my way. There is always an ugly middle, but the key is to keep going and experimenting. You lay down a brush stoke of color and then assess did that make it closer or farther away from where I want this painting to go. You do that with every color and every brush stroke. Painting is basically a series of decisions and then reacting to that decision.
If you have any questions about my process or materials be sure to ask me
