How to Paint These Bright Yellow Trees Step by Step!
See how I painted this yellow trees landscape painting in acrylic on paper! Showing the time-lapse painting process, along with the color mixing.
My palette for this painting is...(Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Orange, Red Oxide, Light Green Permanent, Brilliant Yellow Green, Dioxazine Purple, Phthalocyanine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, White and Black)
This artwork was created using acrylic paint on thick watercolor paper that I've taped down so it doesn't warp as I paint. The image is around 4"x6". I start with an orange base as it makes the colors I put on top brighter, plus and any gaps between strokes will show orange instead of white. This is how I usually start all my acrylic paintings.
You'll notice I block out the large areas first and then hone in on the details. The trees start as all yellow but then I 'poke' holes through where you can see the sky come through. Highlights and shadow get added in the end to create contrast, interest, depth and a sense of volume to the trees.
If you have any questions about my process or materials be sure to ask CONTACT! Enjoy the journey as I create this sweet little painting, and I hope you learn something new about making art and how to paint a landscape!!!
