I've been working away on a painting for the Red Show here in Port. This painting features two big red poppies (and a bud lol)
As an artist I keep learning... this painting uses many of the 'mark making' techniques I figured out during my 'Autumn Art Journal' painting-a-day project from back in Sept. I've painted many poppies in the past, but usually as part of a larger landscape, so it's fun to concentrate on just the flowers. I'm really getting into all the different shades of red!
The 'Red Show' features paintings with a red theme, and is annual delight for Port Stanley art-goers and artists alike. This year is the 10th year celebration!! The event brings together my fav Port area artists and their amazing work! It also coincides with the Santa Claus parade that runs past the venue and so is a festive delight on many levels.
At some point during the night, artistic merry-makers from inside the Inn gather out on the wrap-around porch to watch the Christmas floats drive by (usually filled with folks we know lol... (after all it's a small village)).
The opening festivities all takes place at the Windjammer Inn P.S. Friday, Nov. 24th... the show runs till Feb, 2024.
