This painting starts with a wide roadway that narrows as it leads you deep into a colorful imaginary landscape. It's like a magical small window within your wall the goes somewhere else, how cool is that!!! . Before painting this artwork I first imagined moving through this space, feeling the weight of the clouds above and the momentum of moving along this rolling road absorbing the vast spaces of the country fields. I can easily imagine it as in real life I grew up in the country, so I've traveled many, many country roads. I've consciously tried to remember all the details and feelings associated with all those journeys. .
That's how I create most of my paintings. I use the power of my memory to inform my imaginings of the landscape, then I use the imagery from my thoughts to create the physical painted piece. . It is and isn't as hard as it sounds. The closest I can think of is when you read a book, if the writing is good you'll be able to see in your imagination what's happening almost like a movie. The hard part is translating it back into a physical state of being. .
So here it is, one of those views that has made the leap from real to imagined, then back to real again as a one-of-a-kind work of art. . All the paintings in this collection are acrylic paint on gallery-wrapped canvas with the sides painted to match the front, which creates a wonderful 3d view. These art pieces are 7"x7" which makes the perfect size for giving, and for keeping!! To shop the whole collection just go to LITTLE BIG SKY COLLECTION
