It starts off with a group of blank canvases and some ideas that I've collected with the help of my friends. The act of painting canvases orange feels like part of the ritual that gets me in the mood for the paintings to come.
-
Starting off with this bluebird sketch. They're such lovely birds and very helpful to have around as they eat lots of bugs... plus they're so sweet looking!
-
I decided to add some color to the above sketch to see how that would look.
-
On to the painted version of this bluebird cutie! Even though winter hasn't officially started these pink blossoms have me thinking thoughts of spring lol.
-
I colored my sketch of this house finch. they're a very common bird where I live and the have a most wonderful melodic song.
-
House finch and berries becoming a painting. This piece will be 8"x8". with the painted finch being slightly larger than a real life one.
-
This dragonfly was a special request and I just so happened to have a specimen to look at. Found this quite by accident, it had died in the garden and been dried by the sun. I've had it for a few years so it's a little beat up but still very interesting.
-
Adding color to my dragonfly vision. The happy bright oranges of the lily contrast with a the blue body and sparkling wings. We see lots of dragonflys since we live on a creek, they're always delightful visitors.
-
Sketch of a cosmos that I'm turning into a 6"x6"x canvas painting. I took thiws photo from the community garden here in Port
-
Daisies, another drawing from the community garden photos I took in the summertime. There's no flowers now so I have to rely on my camera roll.
