Over those years I've learned a lot about creating art. Now I'd like to share what I know with you, to give you a head start at learning how to draw.

Drawing is the foundation of creating representational artwork. Time spent learning how to draw means that the art you create in the future will be more successful.
If you've always wanted to capture what you see in a drawing, but felt that you didn't have the talent, then this beginner's workshop is for you!
You'll find out that drawing isn't actually a talent, but a learnable skill that anyone can master given a bit of instruction , the willingness to learn, and the perseverance to do the work.

As a young person I taught myself to draw. Through hours of observation, experimentation and sheer determination... but it doesn't have to be that hard. The lessons I taught myself would have been so much easier if I had someone to show me the shortcuts.
That's why I created this online workshop, so that anyone, no matter where you live or experience level, could learn the basics of how to draw. The ability to capture what you see on paper is an incredibly useful skill, that not only increases your creativity, it also helps you fully absorb what you see.
Observation is key to learning how to draw, but the side effect is that you become more attuned to what you see and the environment around you. When you learn to 'see' the world as an artist does, you'll begin to notice all kinds of details that the average person misses.
Drawing is more than a skill, it's a gift... a gift for engaging with the world like never before, and realizing that beauty is everywhere for those who have eyes to really see it.

In this lesson we'll be covering mark-making, in particular line and texture. We'll experiment with the marks a pencil can make, and learn how to mimick real world textures.

Basic Shapes & Objects
In this lesson we'll be covering drawing basic geometric shapes and everyday objects. Shapes form the basis of drawing, in this section you'll learn how to use shapes to flesh out and build your prelimary drawing.

Tones & Gradients
In this lesson we'll be covering using penciel to create different tones and gradients. Behond the outline shading is what gives an object presence. Follow alpong in the workbook to learn how to use you r penc il to create tones and gradients that you'll use in future drwaings.

Shading Geometric Shapes
In this lesson we'll be using shading to give a 3-D aspect to geometric objects. We'll use the shapes from the previous lesson combined with the gradient lesson to create shapes with a believable 3-d appearance.

Shading Objects
In this lesson we'll be adding shading to the objects we drew in a previous lesson. Shading wil give them a life-like presence in our drawing. This is where the previous lessons come into play We'll make these simple object appear like a fully formed object.

What materials do I need?
All you'll need are the most basic materials, in fact you probably already have them... an HB pencil, eraser, drawing paper and a pencil sharpener.
Do I already need to know how to draw?
No, this course is meant for begniners to teach you the very basic foundational skills of drawing.
What is the cost?
The Quick Start Video series is currently free, sign up now, as that will change.
When does the video course start?
The course starts as soon as you sign up. You'll recieve and email confirming that you signed up. If you don't see that email check your spam folder just in case. Then for a week you'll get an email each day with a link to the lesson that corresponds with a lesson in the printable guide.
